About

Written up in Kampala

Outside the video halls in Kampala there's usually a board. Someone chalks up what's showing that day, and people stop and decide. Screenism works the same way: what's worth your time, where to find it, and a straight opinion on each one.

We cover movies, series, anime and the fandom around them, including the LEGO and collectibles that sit on our shelves. Reviews come with a score, a word for it, and a straight answer to the question that matters: is it worth the ticket? Our score sits next to IMDb's and Rotten Tomatoes', and we say so when we disagree.

Most sites answer "where can I watch this?" for America. We answer it for here first, in shillings, and we date every guide so you know when it was last checked. Every Friday's board includes at least one African title, because African screen culture belongs in the same conversation as everything else.
